Summer Reading Plans

Library staff have already been meeting to develop the plans for our summer reading program. Our children's program will be entitled "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" with a focus on animals. Some of our special events will include a visit from the Nature Reach program at Pittsburg State University, the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company's presentation of "The Hobbit", an afternoon with lizards, snakes and turtles, and a special magic show featuring several rabbits.
Plans are in the works for our teen reading program entitled "Creature Feature" with more details coming at a later date.
For the adults our program will have a western theme with "Round Up Those Books. It's the Library Way." The first program will feature cowboy poet, Harold Carpenter.
All of our programs will begin June 1st and run through the end of July. A calendar of all summer events will be available at the library and on our website in May.
